Journey practices

visiting holy places
Yoga is life itself, unity with the Divine.
Meditation is as a way to feel Him and reach Him.
This will be an opportunity to travel to the heart of “your” wisdom. Come with us on a beautiful journey of self-awareness, gain a deep understanding about the importance of practicing yoga and meditation in our daily life through 'Bhakti Marga Sadhana' (spiritual practice), Ashtanga Yoga´, ´Hatha Yoga´, and much more. We will also have ‘Satsangs’* and lectures with Swamini VishwaMohini Ma that will allow us to immerse into the Holy Scriptures.
Join us on this inner journey during the auspicious month of 'Kartik' and allow yourself to feel the magic of ‘Diwali’, also known as the “Festival of Lights”, in Vrindavan, the “Land" of Divine Love.
* In Indian philosophy, ‘Satsang’ means "supreme truth." The Indian Sacred Texts refer that he who hears the 'Satsang' reduces his concerns and frees himself from illusion.

ashtanga yoga
Ashtanga Yoga literally means "eight-limbed yoga" as outlined by the sage Patanjali in the 'Yoga Sutras'. Is an ancient system that was taught by the sage Vamana Rishi in the 'Yoga Korunta'. The text was later passed on to Sri T. Krishnamacharya in the early 1900’s by his Guru Rama Mohan Brahmachari, and then passed to Sri K. Pattabhi Jois during his 25 years of study with Krishnamacharya, beginning in 1927.
The main components that forms the practical and philosophic basis of Ashtanga Yoga' as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois:
-
Vinyasa: breathing and movement system. For each movement, there is one breath.
-
Tristhana: the three places of attention or action: posture ('asana'), breathing system, 'bandha' (energetic locks) and looking place ('dristhi').
-
Asanas purify, strengthen and give flexibility to the body.
-
Breathing purifies the nervous system.
-
Dristhi is the place where you look while in the asana.
-
In this class we will experience the practice, focusing on the asanas, breathing and proper alignment. We will start with Suryanamaskar A and B (Sun Salutations), the perfect morning practice to awaken the body, focus the mind, and connect to a sense of gratitude for the new day, and will move forward with the traditional sequence of standing poses.

hatha yoga
Hatha Yoga. The word ‘Hatha’ is made up of two Sanskrit roots, ‘ha’ and ‘tha’. ‘Ha’ means ‘sun’ and ‘tha’ means ‘moon’. This is symbolic of the twin energy forces which exist in everything, the ‘yang’ and ‘yin’. The moon is the subtle mental energy, and the sun is the dynamic and active pranic energy, the body’s life force. The practice of Hatha Yoga enables the fluctuations between these two energies to become harmonious and unified into one force.
Traditionally, Hatha Yoga consisted of only the 6 kriyas known as the shatkarmas, the 6 purification methods of the body: dhauti, basti, nauli, neti, trataka and kapalbhati. Later, Hatha Yoga also came to include asana (body postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), mudras (body positions) and bandha (energetic locks).
Hatha Yoga is the preparatory exercise to purify the body and the mind for the higher spiritual practices of raja yoga, kundalini yoga and kriya yoga.
In this class, we will focus only on the asanas part, the body postures. We will learn proper alignment and how to do basic asanas properly. We will cover a range of postures: standing, forward bends, backbends, twists and supine poses, with the help of some basic yoga props where necessary.

RESTORATIVE yoga
AND DEEP STRETCHING
Restores energy to the body through asanas (postures) to deeply stretch different parts of the body.
In this class, we will do restful poses that will restore energy to the body, after a long day of activities. We will also use asanas to deeply stretch different parts of the body, easing any tight or stiff areas, getting blood circulation to flow through those areas again, relieving pain and tightness.
And, depending on the participants, we can go deeper into asanas, increasing the mobility, flexibility and strength of the body, to do deeper versions of the asanas.

sri yantra
painting meditation
Sri Yantra, also known as Sri Chakra, is called the mother of all yantras because all other yantras derive from it. In its three dimensional forms Sri Yantra is said to represent Mount Meru, the cosmic mountain at the center of the universe.
The Sri Yantra is conceived as a place of spiritual pilgrimage. It is a representation of the cosmos at the macrocosmic level and of the human body at the microcosmic level (each of the circuits correspond to a chakra of the body).
The Sri Yantra is a configuration of nine interlocking triangles, surrounded by two circles of lotus petals with the whole encased within a gated frame, called the "earth citadel". The nine interlocking triangles centered around the bindu (the central point of the yantra) are drawn by the superimposition of five downward pointing triangles, representing Shakti; the female principle and four upright triangles, representing Shiva; the male principle. The nine interlocking triangles form forty three small triangles each housing a presiding deity associated with particular aspects of existence.
